PLS students as research assistants at the Notre Dame Institute for Advanced Study

Author: Denis Robichaud

Three PLS students are serving as Templeton Research Assistants this year at the Notre Dame Institute for Advanced Study (NDIAS): Iona Hughan, Sarah Lovejoy, and Jack Yusko.

The NDIAS supports research that is directed toward, or extends inquiry to include, ultimate questions and questions of value, especially as they engage the Catholic intellectual tradition.

The responsibilities of the Templeton Research Assistants fall into three categories. First they will be helping the Templeton fellows with their research, which includes everything from constructing bibliographies to investigating particular questions that are important for a specific section of the project to reading and discussing drafts of chapters. Second, the students are encouraged to work on their own research at the Institute and to take advantage of the collegial atmosphere and logistical support that we have to offer. Lastly, they will be engaged in outreach to the undergraduate community by planning seminars, symposia, and smaller conversations in which students will have an opportunity to engage with NDIAS fellows and other faculty in discussions of interdisciplinary topics and questions that bring together normative and descriptive expertise.
