Contemplation and Philosophy: Scholastic and Mystical Modes of Medieval Philosophical Thought

The conference honoring Professor Kent Emery, Jr., will bring to campus some of the most renowned scholars of medieval philosophy in the world. Organized by Professors Roberto Hofmeister Pich (PUCRS, Porto Alegre, Brazil), Alfredo Santiago Culleton (UNISINOS, São Leopoldo, Brazil), and the late Director of the Medieval Institute Olivia Remie Constable, the event celebrates the career of an eminent scholar by offering a series of papers by his colleagues, students, and friends.

A followup “Festschrift” volume, edited by Professors Culleton, Pich, and Andreas Speer (Thomas-Institute der Universität zu Köln), will contain 32 essays from conference participants and additional contributors.
