Students who wish to major in the Program of Liberal Studies must fill out the application, write a brief personal statement, and turn in all materials to the PLS office by the designated deadline.

The Application deadline for students wishing to enter PLS in academic year 2008-2009 is Thursday, April 10 at 4:00 p.m.

Personal Statement

In a short double-spaced essay (2 page maximum) indicate your reasons for desiring to study in the Program of Liberal Studies. Also describe any special considerations about yourself you wish to bring to the attention of the Chair and faculty of the Program. You might want to address:

(1) The way you learned about the Program;

(2) Your reasons for preferring this major to other possibilities;

(3) Your specific interest in a Great Books approach to education.
