Research Profile

Professor Duttenhaver specializes in 19th- and 20th-century systematic theology in the European context, with particular interests in Friedrich Schleiermacher, soteriology, theological anthropology, and suffering. She also engages with questions of theological method and fundamental theology in connection with political and feminist theology. Her dissertation examines the relationship between radical political engagement and a reimagined Christian Platonism in the thought of Simone Weil. Professor Duttenhaver has published on Friedrich Schleiermacher, Martin Luther, Simone Weil and Alfred North Whitehead.
